hi does anybody know anything about the new starview boxes
i was wondering do they automaticly update when n*l ireland change there codes

The new box is just the old box with a new front. It's just a way for the sellers to extract some more of our hard earned cash. The old Starview is autoupdating with the new firmware version 4 just released today.

As I've said in other threads, make sure your box is not a "clone". The v4 firmware will kill it if it is a "clone".

I know because I killed mine last night.

Be very sure before you do anything.

If you don't want to manually update the keys when/if it goes down, you can flash it to v3, then when the keys update and you get your channels back, flash it back to v2.57. This will take about 6 - 7 mins.

Does this apply to the Starview 2 as well and how do you know if your machine is actually a "clone"..........rather than the original thing? I have just ordered one and now a bit worried!!

You'll need an rs232 null modem cable, and the loader software. I'll have a root around for a link to the loader software.
