i have recently downloaded a few files off the program "PTC" (personal torrent collector) one of them had the extension avi and it claimed it was divx but i couldnt play it with the regular divx encoders..in the filename were "ts" (telesync) and "daduck" (i'm guessing is the maker of the file) i would like to know which codec i would need to use in order to be able to play it in the divx player on my computer if at all possible. and where i would get this codec, thank you -scott- aka aftershock age-17/m PS i have the Xvid encoder already e-mail <<< NO EMAILS PLZ. For a complete listing of almost every codec required to watch a movie and the order to install them in... pay a visit to http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/48608 ====== Both AVICodec and GSpot can be used to determine the codecs required for a movie to play. AVICodec, despite its name has better MPEG capabilities and thus is reccomended for MPEG files (such as those for (S)VCDs). GSpot on the otherhand is far more efficient for scanning AVI files. Both programs offer unique features also, AVICodec allows you to queue up and entire folder to for checking in addition to providing direct links to sites where codecs can be downloaded; GSpot allows for 'rendering' of files (to check to see if the system can actually play the file with the available codecs and to check for fakes. AVICodec can be downloaded from http://avicodec.duby.info/ and GSpot can be downloaded from http://www.headbands.com/gspot/
What happens when you try to play the file? What media player are you using? If you are unaware of Divfix you can download it at http://divfix.maxeline.com/ and open the file with this program, choose "rebuild index". If it displays "this is not an AVI" the file may have been renamed or sabotaged. Try this first. Wernicke
