My cdrw/dvd combo only reads certain discs and rejects others - it just stays on the yellow light and says i havnt got a disc in the drive...any ideas?
Welll thats not a lot of info you're givin us! 1. Drive do you have? 2. ASPI? 3. What media? CD? DVD? If CD, provide ATIPs for the media that works 4. OS? 5. Firmware?
I have a toshiba 1002 dvd/cdrw drive - my os system is ME - it will read cd-r discs but not other discs like audio mostly! it scans the disc then says there is no disc in the drive and the yellow light is still on! u need any more info?
Have u ever let it finish scanning? What i mean is that some drives take friggen forever to recognize a disc and if you do anything like open My COmputer that process gets terminated and you wont find a disc.
ill let it run and see what happens.....could ti be a virus or a worm? also in my system in the control pannel its says that the "system board extention for plug and play bios" has a "confilct" could this be anything to do with it?
I dont suspect it's a worm but the system conflict is definitely the problem you need to address. If you gave me some more details I'd be better able to point you in the right direction.
its confilict 15 - code 15 and says its causing a resource conflict - what info will you need? many thanks really appreciate this!
Resource conflict.... i'm gonna go out on a limb and guess IRQ conflict cuz rarely is it a DMA conflict anymore. So the problem is with Windows and resource allocation rather than a hardware one. Try uninstalling the device and rebooting.
To Check for DMA: (1) Control Panel, (2) System, (3) Goto the Hardware Tab, (4) Device Manager, (5) CD/DVDROM (6) Select the drive, right click and uninstall (7) Reboot.
