I'm trying to rip DVD 6 from X-Files season 7. DVDs 1-5 ripped flawlessly. DVD 6 starts the little 2 minute opening analysis, gets to about 44% and then crashes with "unknown error failed to read file". DVD is original and brand new. I've ripped Family Guy since, so it does not appear to be a bad drive. I am considering ripping with DVD Decrypter, but the DVD is over 4.7 GB in size. Any recommendations on how I can get DVD 6 to copy?

rip with decrypter and then use shrink to create new files in a new folder that will fit on a dvd.

I had this happen and decrypter did the job and then you run shrink on the file(not "open disc")

Check also for scrapes on the disc in question as this can be a main problem.

No scratches on DVD. I tried Decrypter, and it gets it to the HD. DVD Shrink, however, does not recognize the .ISO file Decrypter created and won't read it. What now?

run decrypter in file mode--not iso. then open the ifo file with shrink. This will reproduce all the ifo, bup, and vob into a folder on your hdd. You don't want to make a .iso file.

you open the video_ts.ifo or the ifo of the movie title only if that is all you did.

Yeah, you are ripping as an image and so a compression software would not be able to recognise it. Change it to IFO I, not File F mode, as this works the best.

I tride IFO 1 Mode. It got to the HDD. When I used DVD Shrink it crashes at 50% encoded and gives me "programming error" and error: unknown message. I stated to download smart ripper, but it appears to be in german and looks like it is only for DVD to VCD conversion? Help.

If Shrink Beta 3.5 does not work, is it worth my time to attempt 2.3?

Make sure you are doing open files and not open disc with DVD Shrink after using DVD Decrypter.
