What media did you use like Sony +R 16x?

How about the burn speed - what speed did you burn at?
Try burning at 1/2 the rated speed if you're not already.

Firmware up to date on the drive?

Try playing it back in the pc and see if you have the same problem there.

    Binkie,

I used DVD+R Memorex burned at 16x and I updated the firmware on the Lite-on 1633S. I tried on my PC and it still hung up.

I downloaded DVDFab HD Decrypter and will try at 8x.

Try taking it down to 8x - may just do the trick.

Memorex uses different manufacturers and not all that good so if you're having a problem on the pc and player it may just be the media.
Better to use would be Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden or made in japan Sony, Fuji or Maxell.

Since your using Shrink if you haven't deleted the movie off the hard drive yet - try playing it back from the pc and see if you have any hang ups there 1st b/4 you burn it again. If none there then looking like the media.

    Binkie,

The tried playing the file on the PC before burning it. Unfortunately, it hung up at the same position in the movie. Any suggestions?

Ok so looks like something is amiss with the ripping.

Rerip the movie w/ DVDFab HD Decrypter - try doing movie only.
Try playing back from the pc now and see if ok - if it is then open in Shrink to finish.

You also might want to try running the file already on the hard drive thru FixVTS - may help - here's a guide.
Then try playing those files and see if it did the trick.

    B,

The playback on the PC didn't work. I will try ripping it with Ripit4me. I'll let ya know how it goes.

    B,

This sucks! Now the movie hangs up on chapter 4! I used ripit4me and fixVTS and DVD Shrink and the movie still hangs. I've burned 6 coasters and counting!

Yep it does suck - now to try and figure out why this keeps happening.
Nothing special copy protection wise on the dvd at all.
    It's a good movie btw.

Have you tried doing movie only? For now I would save it to the hard drive only to check it.

Have you been keeping up on the pc maintenace - like disc defrag, disc cleanup and virus scans? May not be the issue but good to do on a regular basis.

Keeping as much memory free as possible - like no multitasking and closing any unneeded programs?

Good to hear you finally got it!

Just an FYI on the HP media - they use different manufacturers too like Memerox does - some good some not. See the ones in my post above to use.

Enjoy the movie - it's a good one imho :)
