Cant convert a Divx movie

    hi all, when i try to convert a Divx movie into MPEG2 using Tmpgenc the picture is all blocky and very distorted, but if i play my original file throught a Divx player its ok but how do i canvert to to MPEG2 keeping this qualilty.

    Im afraid that is impossible to keep the quality of a DivX AVI file as you convert to SVCD format. The reason is that SVCDs are restircted to a certain specification that must be followed whereas AVI files can use damn near whatever they want. Also, MPEG2 is nowhere near the quality codec that DivX is.

    SVCD: 480x480@29.97 or 480x576@25
    AVI (variable): 720x480@29.97 for example.

    As you can see simply from the math, AVI files will always have more quality than their SVCD counterparts (also, you can get an entire movie onto a CD as opposed to multple discs for SVCD).
