i have a .mkv which had subtitles. i wanted to rip subtitles from it and so i used virtualdub to do so. however, when i ripped the subtitle from the .mkv file, the subtitles had this ,,Default,,0000,0000,0000,, thing on every single line. may i know how to remove them? note that when i play the mkv file, the subtitles are shown totally fine. please help!
Just to be clear, you used VirtualDubMod 'Streams' > 'Stream List', selected the text file and 'Demuxed' and the .srt file was screwed up? It almost looks like .ass format. Have you tried running it through the likes of VOBsub (the subresync part)to see if it would correct it. I edited out reference to another program.
I ran your sample through Microsoft Word and just told it to replace the string that began with numbers and the phrase. It might work and it's fast and cheap.
alright i did your method and it worked fine. however, i had to check for numbers in the subtitles tho. like for example smth like "in a 100 years time..." is a entry in subtitle...the "100" will be replaced also huh. so i just checked if the subtitles contained any numbers that weren't supposed to be replaced and luckily, there weren't any. thanks for ur help. really appreciate it.
What I find odd is that the extracted subs had those entries in the first place. I was hoping someone would pop in with the straight goods. Using Word to replace the string, I assumed that I was telling it to find a phrase that began with any digit and contained the exact text which followed, but I don't use the feature often enough to know that - I need a second pop in.
exactly. i dunno why is it happening. i wonder if it happens with all mkv files? i demux subtitles from ogm files a lot also and i do not seem to have any problems at all.
Part of mkvtoolnix, the official mkv toolset. You have mkvmerge for creation and mkvextract for extraction. VirtualDubMod is generally not recommended for dealing with mkv's.
I don't know why you use that subtitle format. The easiest way to the gratest subtitle is with BS Player PRO and Notepad. Open movie where you want to create subtitle, and click the timer a few times. When it displayes frames (movies are usual 24 frames per sec). Than open Notepad and type like this: {41}{102}Subtitle example Legend: {41}-Frame when subtitle appears {102}-Frame when subtitle dissapears Subtitle example-Text displayed If you want to you text be desplayed... ...italic, type {y:i} ...bold, type {y:b} ...underline, type {y:u} If you want to change size of subtitles, type {s:13} (I don't reccomand larger subtitle than 20) If you want to change font that subtitle will be displayed, type {f:Arial} (I don't reccomand some fonts that are hard to read, use Arial, Arial Narrow, Verdana, Tahoma, Times New Roman) If you want to change color, type {c:$f0f0ff} ATTENTION! Every color hase its code. Descover it by yourself. Don't forget to type $ before every code and that every code contains only "f" and "0" I RECCOMAND to always type your subtitle settings, not to leave it to default. For example, you want yellow subtitle sized 13, bold styled, and Arial Narrow-font. DON'T PANIC!!! It will not work very good in BS Player, so use Media Player Classic.
