OK im gonna go spend a bit of money! hehe! what should I be after? My system is a VAIO 2.54Mhz PCV RS 220 with XP, 105 gig HD, 768 MB RAM. Drive E:Toshiba SD-R5002 DVD-RW F:Sony CRX300A DVD ROM. Software: Nero6 Ultra, DVDX copy gold. (wrong)media:TDK DVD+R 4x. I need different media (DVD-R) and I think I need somthing to compress and decode(?) my DVDs. I have a collection of DVD movies I want to back up- they get damaged after a while. I am just wondering what an ideal system setup would be and I could compare it to what I have. This isn't VHS!

    Thanks cheezzzz,
Looks like you have a similar system is your hard drive partitioned? Friend of mine got a new computer and I noticed his entire HD was labeled c drive. same size drive as mine even. Why would a drive be partioned with a relativly small c and a much larger d partition? I don't know how to tell shrink 2.3 to send the files to my d partition of my hard drive.

AnyDVD and CloneDVD are probs the right tools to use for you are they are simple and straight forward. Use the link in my signiture for a Any/CloneDVD guide.

Yes, my HD is partitioned as follows:
    c: - 15gigs for the OS
    d: - 60gigs for media stuff, i.e. mp3, movies, pix
e: - 10gigs for appz, zip files, etc
f: - 30gigs for drive images in various stages.

I'm pretty sure you can configure dvdshrink where your ready to burn files go. Been a while since I have used that proggie. Just go to the dvd shrink guides in this forum. They are pretty clearcut.
