Recently, I downloaded a Pokemon Fire Red ROM for my GPSP Emulator. But after playing for a little while, I realized that I can't save the game at all. When I try to save, it gives me a message saying: "Save error. Please change the backup memory." Or something similar to that.
My friend has the Emerald version, and told me that he can save his game just fine. I was wondering if I just downloaded a bad ROM, or is this particular game has no way of saving the progress?
Please let me know. I leveled up my Charmander up to 11 only to find that the game could not be save... =/

No; it says "there is no savestate option implemented yet." But the Emerald version also say the same thing, and it saves just fine. I also tried downloading the ROM from a different website, but alas, no luck. It seems that this game doesn't have any way of saving the progress.
But if there is a way, please let me know how. Thanks in advance. =)

What would be the latest version of gpSP? I'm not really sure what version I'm using. And if it's not too much to ask, or if it's possible, could you link me to a site where I can download it?
Thank you very much in advance.

I apologize if this is a little late, but I had the same problem and figured it out (I'm guessing that you probably have too).
The newest gpsp is available for download at:
http://dl.qj.net/Gameboy-Advance/pg/12/fid/12122/catid/122
I can guarantee that it works for pokemon fire red version.
[NOTE: You will put the gba_bios.bin in the same folder as the EBOOT.PBP, just like before.]

I know a way of saving ALL pokemon versions.... Just press Shift and F1 together... next time you load the game.. just press F1... to get back the the game where you "saved" you can use from F1 to F12 to saved and load... I think this "save" technique is applicable to ALL ROMs..
