hp zt1000 series service manual

im going to be tearing this laptop down completely to replace the faulty dc power jack, taking it apart is easy enough but i would like this manual to reference when i reassemble it. ive been through hp's website and many pages off google and all the sites i found want payment for a download, and i dont have a credit card for that...shouldnt this be available somewhere? if anyone can help me out i would be very grateful, thank you.

edit: also if you know any guides or any info that could help me with the soldering of the replacement that would be awesome...

edit2: oh and fyi the actual laptop is a zt1175

 

The best advice i can give you is to get some paper, draw out a layout of what went were, and place the relevant screws on that section of the diagram. Just don't knock it over!

im waiting for my replacement jack from ebay which will probably be next week...after i got it all apart i though "damn will i remember how to put it all back together???" lol

lol dont worry though...ive been dismantling stuff since i was a toddler...i'll get it back together...but would dread finding i missed something and had to take it apart again..

 

ive been through that one...seems to be just the basic stuff...not a complete tear down....but maybe i just need to read it more thoroughly which i will do...thank you for the reply.

i have a quick question, figured id ask here instead of making a new thread, the heatsink has a pad on it, when i go to reinstall should i remove it and use compound or am i supposed to reuse this thermal pad? thanx for all the input.

 

so is it ok then to use compound rather than a new pad?

hey ddp, after i cleaned the gunk off the heatsink (with q-tip and alcohol) i noticed a small nick in the area that will contact the chip, will thermal compund fill this ok? how much could this affect me?if ya need it i can take a pic of it tommorow...

yes i still havent put her back together yet, have everything i need except my soldering iron, which i should have had days ago from ups.

a nick...but i put everything together....but my temps are to high....when i start the pc temp is in high 30's....but after awhile it reaches high 50's, havent seen 60's yet....but i read so many guides and some said to apply the small half grain of rice and spread it evenly with a credit card...thats what i did...should i try the other route ala put the half grain in the middle of the chip and then just put the sink on and let it spread naturaly? because i did the best i could but i dont think i spread it on very evenly...anyways im gonna go back in and re apply the compound but what way is the best?

 

the fan had very little dust, i was actualy suprised at how cleanhj the entire inside of this pc was....i'll update you when i get to taking this thing apaert again...thanx for the help.
