Gottlieb Pinball seems to be Region Incompatible.

Check Compatibility Lists

Where's the party?!?

Hey all!

Love the thread. As you probably know each case differs.

Hardware at the moment:

Wiikey (original firmware)
Wii (Firmware 3.2E)

Basically I would like to know the steps to fix my wiikey.

Now I am looking through the forum and find conflicting information.
Some people are saying you have to upgrade to 1.9s and then to 1.9g, some people are saying straight to 1.9g.

So basically, in order to fix my wiikey, should I just upgrade straight to 1.9g?

Also what does this config disk do?

Sorry guys, I am kinda n00b at this :P

Hi

I installed SMG so it becomes 1.9b. After I put in the 1.9s DVD is keeps getting error after it runs the test cycle.

Now all my backup games can't be played.

Any help here

I use a HP DVD+R. I burn the file using imgburn. It recognize it as a gamecube dvd. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong

Please, Im desperate... Thanks

The latest firmware is 1.9s.
Update directly to 1.9s. Use the correct region.

The config Disc is used to change Wiikey settings, such as Region Override, or Update protection, etc.. Post here after the 1.9s update if you need help with the Config.

1) Try burning the update on DVD-R disc at 4x

2) If that does not work try using the filechopped/padded version

3) If that also does not work, you might have a Wiikey clone and therefore be unable to update it.

I still say, that running the recovery disc might work.
If Wiikey isn't working, and it used to work, or there
is something wrong in the firmware of wiikey (for example,
my wiikey didn't work before recovering at all), recovering can be
the answer. After it, you should try updating.

But belive rafadawn, not me. I might not be newbie (altough
afterdawn says so), but im not pro like rafadawn.

again, sry my bad english, if it's bad.

Hi there,

I'm having problems with my wii reading my config discs.

when i installed my wiikey i had 3.0E. Tried nearly every method of burning the 1.3 config disc, filechopped, GCOS, in nero and imgburn, even tried a couple of different types of dvd-r(datawrite titanium and verbatim).

All came up saying unable to read disc.

I read on here some people have had problems reading config discs with 3.0 so bought a wireless router and upgraded to 3.2E.

tried all the discs again and still unable to read.

Just tried the 1.4 config and still the same deal.

Now i can play my originals fine so i am wondering which is more likely
a)the media i'm using (datawrite titanium dvd-r) is unsuitable.
b)i've bodged my install and the wiikey is doing nothing
c)something else i am unaware of.

My confidence in my install isn't great but i don't wanna send it off to some company to fix if the real problem is just the discs i'm using.

Many thanks in advance for any help that can be thrown my way

I'd have to say, "b". If you haven't had a sniff of reading any disk including backups of older titles (cos some older ones would at least show in the game channel even if the wiikey wasn't fully updated and configged) then the install isn't reliable. Verbatim DVD-R would be ok btw. Dunno about the other media.

ok opened it up and had another look,

i'm long sited and don't wear glasses so when looking at small things upclose i find it very difficult so got out a torch, saw there was the tiniest bit of solder conecting 2 of the points, got rid of it and just tried a disc,

Success!!
#1335 02 Apr 2008 @ 10:11
just had both 1.9s firmware and 1.4 config disc work perfectly on datawrite titanium discs burnt at 4x using imgburn.

tested my first back up disc and that worked too.

panic over :D

Okay, I have two Wiis, and both had a different experience when recovering. I will post what I did, but technically, a lot of credit goes to the forum for my second recovery, since I was searching for remedies from this forum. (credits to partriv in this thread for that one)

Just a little fun fact for confused people: Why doesn't the Wii make sounds when recovering? Well, recall that the original file was not that big. The Wii read the recovery disc in a few seconds, and looked for a video to play in the Disc Channel. The Wii was "tricked" into thinking that there was a file to display in the Channel and subsequently flashed the Wiikey.

Anyway, if people still have troubles after this, I will try testing for different methods before telling you to buy a new Wiikey (lol). And just post in this thread, don't PM.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Some things you will obviously need before attempting:

Wiikey 1.9b Recovery Disc (Padded or Unpadded)
Wiikey 1.9g Update Disc/Wiikey 1.9s Update Disc (Padded)

I will use 1.9b and 1.9g/1.9s to refer to these discs, respectively.

Also, if neither options are working, please replace your 1.9b recovery with a padded version if you're using an unpadded version, and vice-versa. When burning another recovery disc, try using a different burn speed. I tried 4x and 2x for my padded and unpadded, respectively.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Option A

1) Unplug the Wii and plug it back in. (I like to start from a clean slate with a red LED)
2) Turn on Wii. Doesn't matter if theres a disc inside or not. If there is a disc, eject it. If there isn't, press eject anyway.
3) Insert 1.9b in the Wii. Let it stop spinning, and press A.
4) Wait at the menu until black screen pops up. If you want, give it 5 or 6 minutes. Proceed to next step after 8 minutes if the screen doesn't pop up.
5) Press the Reset button
6) Eject the 1.9b after it stops spinning.
7) Turn off Wii until Yellow Light and repeat Step 2-6 one more time. Flashing is a tedious task that doesn't always work. Give it one more go. At this point, you may or may not see a GC Logo in the Channel Menu.
8) Insert a backup. If it works, hooray! You may or may not want to update to 1.9g/1.9s at this point. If it didn't work, Option B.

Option B

1) Unplug the Wii and plug it back in. (Again, clean slate with a red LED)
2) Turn on Wii. Yep, disc inside or not, press eject anyway.
3) Insert 1.9b in the Wii. Let it stop spinning, and press A.
4) Wait at the menu for 3 minutes. If you want, give it 5 or 6 minutes.
5) Press the Reset button
6) Eject the 1.9b after it stops spinning.
7) Turn off Wii until Yellow Light, and repeat steps 2-6. Tedious, tedious, tedious.
8) Insert 1.9g/1.9s. Let's hope for a GC Logo! YES!? YAY NEXT STEP!
9) Update as normal. I think you'd know what to do from here.

I wish everyone a Good Luck when recovering.
BTW, I forgot to mention what media I was using.

For Option A, the padded 1.9b Recov was burned on a Memorex DVD-R @ 4x.

For Option B, the unpadded 1.9b Recov was burned on a Fujifilm DVD-R @ 2x. (because I ran out of Memorex)

The 1.9g/1.9s updates were burned on a Fujifilm DVD-R @ 4x. (no more Memorex)

from these two observations, I think a higher quality media will result in a better chance of success in my Option A, and a lower quality media will have to make do with my Option B. Also, a more-recently bought Wii will have a better chance of success in Option A, and a launch Wii will have to do an Option B.

Again, this is based on my two observations and might not be applicable at all, but I thought I'd throw it out there so people might get a better understanding. and of course, there might be way more variables, but these are just my observations on my two Wiis.

No you won't unbrick with USA BW - it's an earlier release than the PAL version for a start. You need SMG USA or SSBB USA to unbrick or any USA game with 3.1 or higher will do it. Those are the 2 obvious ones.

s=? who knows or even cares really :)

hehe I disagree - I don't think it's obvious. Otherwise why did somebody ask the Q in the first place? I think that's "obvious" ;)

Anyway - don't worry - I don't take it as rudeness ... just a bit of crack and I still don't care what it stands for :P

If you have a USA console semi-bricked with a 3.0 game then SSBB USA should fix it. You can't lose by trying it either. Just take the update - don't patch or anything.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this. I have a Wii that is displaying Japanese text. It was bought in China. I wasn't sure what mod chip I had so I opened it up and found ATMEGA8 16AU and some other stuff on the chip.

I tried using the Japanese version of 1.9s but it wouldn't read the disc. However, It will read 1.9s US. So I inserted the disc and have the GC logo but everytime I run it, it just resets the Wii. What do I do from here? Thanks.
#1349 04 Apr 2008 @ 5:48
@RCZG:

I am sure you can use google to find the info ('autoprogrammer')

As for me, I encourage using original Wiikey chips to support the Wiikey team and their work.
