SPTD.sys error

    Please could someone help me I have an XP machine which wont bootup due to SPTD.sys file is loading as a page file instead of a non page file

    I cant boot to safe mode

    I have put a second harddrive and booted up on that and now can someone help me and tell me how I can fix it

    boot with the xp disc and go to the recovery console
    type 1
    press enter
    type password or press enter

    when you get the prompt type chkdsk /r

    There is one problem to that as I didnt build the computer I dont know the admin password

    it might not have a password...

    If it does, try your password (if you have one for when you log in)
