Which one performs better? I'm getting 20 dollars plus the 7600 GS for my 8500 GT. I've heard both things being better than the other. Anyone here know for sure?
The 7600GS is better than the 8500GT, a good 30% or so faster. You suckered somebody good there, nice work!
Ive found some specs about them if this helps. 8500GT (256MB and 512MB standard clocked): Manufacturer: nVidia Series: GeForce 8 GPU: G86 Interface: PCI-E x16 Core Clock: 450 MHz Memory Clock: 400 MHz (800 DDR) Memory Bandwidth: 12.8 GB/sec Shader Operations: 7200 Operations/sec Pixel Fill Rate: 3600 MPixels/sec Texture Fill Rate: 3600 MTexels/sec Vertex Operations: 1800 MVertices/sec 7600GS (256MB and 512MB standard clocked): Manufacturer: nVidia Series: GeForce 7 GPU: G73 Interface: PCI-E x16 Core Clock: 400 MHz Memory Clock: 400 MHz (800 DDR) Memory Bandwidth: 12.8 GB/sec Shader Operations: 4800 Operations/sec Pixel Fill Rate: 3200 MPixels/sec Texture Fill Rate: 4800 MTexels/sec Vertex Operations: 500 MVertices/sec The 7600GS Texture fill rate is faster, but on shader operations to the 8500GT it loses. memory bandwidth is the exact same, so not much of a difference there.
Oh what the hell, I think I can trust sammoris. I just sold my 8500 GT for 80 to a friend on mine(bought it for 60 with shipping), and I'm buying a 7600 GS from a local person for 50 bucks.
7600 GS would be much better. the 8500 was really a non gaming VGA card, that possibly supports HDCP (sp?) and can be used in HTPCs.
The 7600GS is faster than the 8500GT, the 7600GT is MUCH faster than the 7600GS, let alone the 8500GT. You've done well!
