I need a new cd writer and have found one that is in my budget range (I don't have much money ) and I wanted to know if it is a 2 sheep burner. It's an LGE GC8520B .
LG (Lucky Goldstar made by Hitachi) are known for very short life spans so i don't recommend m8. Price some of these brand name burners at Newegg... 1) Plextor Premium (52\32\52x) 2) Asus 40\48\52x 3) LiteOn 40\48\52x 4) Memorex MAXX 40\48\52x 5) Sony CRX 48\52x 6) Polaroid BurnMAX 40\48\52x Shoey __X_X_X_X_X_[small]Certified Computer Technician http://www.afterdawn.com/general/legal.cfm Mobo: MSI KT4VL-6712 CPU: AthlonXP Barton 2500+ Ram: 512 SD-DDR (PC-2700) nVidia GeForce4 MX440-8x Maxtor ATA\133 80 gig hd DVD-ROM: LiteOn LTD 165H CDRW: Memorex52MAXX 2452[/small]
Thanks, I will take a look at those you listed. BTW, my current writer is an LG and it is still working fine and I have used it intensely for the last 3 years
Yes I have a 4 year LG burner working fine... its not the old drives that are a problem... its anything 24X or faster that breaks to crap. I've personally lost two 48x24 LG burners hehe.
How long did they last, and what exactly happened to them? The site I use for buying most of my PC stuff is called www.redstore.com, could you recommend any from this link below bearing in mind I can't stretch to more than £80. http://www.redstore.com/fx/prc_gen.php?genre=PC&cat=CDR&subcat=cdrw&subcat2=ide
