I need some help getting Chinese subtitles to work. I'm using vlc player to do this. I went to settings to change the default subtitle encoding to UTF-8 and when I load the .avi movie file along with the subtitle file (.srt) the subtitles show up as mixed letters. I then tried BIG5 and still nothing. Tried default as well.
Did some Google searching for Chinese encoding related issues and no luck. Any suggestions?

Make subtitle with Notepad, and than save it as .sub file. Than, play it with Media Player Classic. It reads all letters (I'm from Serbia, I always use ž, š, đ, č, ć in subtitles and it works!).
