Yo guys I have a pretty big desk and I was wondering if I could put the 50in plasma on the desk and run it like a moniter.. what kind of graphics card would I need and how could I connect it?
You need a graphics card with a S-Video out on it, and then running it would be like any other monitor on a pc. Remember that quality will be reduced as it is not designed as being a computer monitor and there will be appearance flaws with the screen, although videos will look awesome on it.
if the tv has a dvi input or you graphics card has an hdmi output, you'd be set (give your plasma has a hi-def tuner).
Acutualy some Plasma and LCD TVs are also designed to be monitors. Depending on what you have you may be able to do this without resolution loss. You are3 looking for this feature on the TV (HDMI)If this is on your set then you are in good luck. it is a small slot about 1inch long and less than 1/2 inch thick. Sometimes the hookup is next to all the composites or it may be on the bottom of the TV. It may also be found in the rear tword the top left or right. You will also notice an audio jack hook up next to it for sound. The set may even have a full fledge DVI jack (I havent seen that before but I guess it is possible) IF it is there then all you need is a VID card with DVI and a cable to go from DVI to HDMI. If you do not have this at all then the above post will be what your looking for and will result in poor resolutions. IF you are still confused then post your plasma make and modle here and I will look it up. -Del
HEY! Auslander's porn > FaugYou's porn + all other porn. with a mathematically true statement like that, my sig rules you.
We have a computer linked to our 42 inch tv so we can watch movies and things But it's no good for games cos the screen is too big and when you are far enough away to see the whole thing you can't reach the keyboard
Plus the fact the resolution is the same as a 15" monitor! That is unless you run a full 1080HD screen, in which case my hat goes off to you, rich so and so!
