Installed the my new Maxtor 160GB. Instructions say I need to upload drivers from diskette or cd. I have cd. Popped in WinXP cd for boot then F6 then S as per instructions. Screen wants diskette for drive A. I have no diskette. What now? Instructions say to put drivers onto a diskette. Well how the hell am I gonna do that? I'm making a really, really mean face now....see!!! Is there some way to do that with only one pc?

    You need a driver diskette(floppy).

Best bet is to go to your mobo manufacturer's site and find the driver then save it onto the diskette. This is the one you use when you F6.

Just did a build and I was pissed when I forgot the disk.

Though, I don't know what to do if you don't have a floppy drive. Maybe borrow one from a friend?

I suppose though that if you could post this you might have access to a PC with a floppy drive? Take what you can find. ANY old floppy drive will work.

I've had the good fortune to find boards that don't need the floppy buy most still do.

So are you going to install XP onto that drive? Or is this just an extra drive? If it is an extra drive does it show up under My Computer?
