My ageing parents bought a PHILIPS 32PFL5522D/05 TV & SAMSUNG HT-THX22R/XEU Home Cinema package from Comet which I set up today and only when they are watching a DVD on the Samsung Home Cinema do the speakers kick-in. I have linked TV to Cinema system using a SCART lead but thought that normall telly would play through speakers too ......... am I being stoopid to think this is possible or stoopid by not setting it up right. It seems a lot of money to spend to have good sound on DVD's only and not on normal telly; which is why they bought it.
I just googled your set-up. It appears you have bought a DVD/Home Cinema in one combo. These are great value but unfortunately lack the versatility of using an AV receiver. It seems that your unit does not have any analog inputs, which means you can only use the speakers while playing a DVD or CD etc.
appreciate the reply but think they will be gutted ............ feel a stroppy visit to Comet coming on ........ cheers
In reference to your enquiry. It is also required to connect an audio cable from the audio out on the rear of the TV to the AUX in on the rear of the unit. You will need to then press AUX on the surround sound system remote and ensure pro logic or pro logicII is active for surround sound. then your telly sound will come threw the speakers, had the same problem
it77... This is thread is quite old. I don't know why you bothered to reply to it. Anyway... I think you should research the model before making the suggestions. The unit glasgae mentioned has no aux input. It is a DVD/home theatre combo, which means the speakers run straight from the DVD player.
