Hello, I have a CD-RW LG CGE 8400B, updated with the latest firmware. Win XP says its running properly, however ANY CD I put into it shows as blank (Audio CDs, CD-ROM, anything), and when u try to burn something, nothing happens. I even formatted the PC with the restore CDs, and the problem is still there. Should I assume there's a HW problem and get me a new one? THANK YOU!
LG...... okie i would say hardware issue. What burning app you running? Could it be an ASPI issue? For more information regarding ASPI see http://cd-rw.org/articles/archive/aspisetup.cfm
Tks! I'll try to update the ASPI. On the burner question, it doesn't even READ a music CD, for instance, and the writer software is the basic windows explorer, send to CD-RW feature. I tried to installed Easy CD Creator, and still the same problem happens. Thank you again.
1. Easy CD is trash 2. WindowsXP is a quirky OS when it comes to built-in burning capability. Many people claim to be able to burn fine. Many others have problems. Microsoft released an update to the IMAPI (which, FYI stands for Image Mastering Applications Programming Interface); that update can be found at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;320174 Furthermore, Microsoft has adressed other burning issues with WindowsXP, see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;324129
