HI, i just recenlty built myself a computer but i am having problems with the hard drive. It is a maxtor SATA but the problem is my computer cannot see that it is there. I have downloaded several S.M.A.R.T report programs but they all say that they can't find my hard drive even thought i am on it right now running windows vista and i can access it through "My computer" and i can see it in the POST screen. I cannot find anywhere a solution for this, so i came to ask the more experienced ones on this forum, hope i gave you enough information, and thanks alot in advance for your help
This may seem like a dumb question, but are all of the plugs in? Is the power plug plugged in all the way? And the sata cable? I had that same problem with my maxtor HDD, but I fixed it by putting the plugs in all the way, it may seem like their in, but sometimes their not.
emm yea ill check but im nearly sure that there all in because i am using it right now and it boots up windows vista okay but yea ill check
yea its all plugged in properly and i changhed the SATA cable and connected it to a different SATA port, any other suggestions? thanks anyway
Yea it boots up fine and i can see my C: drive in "My Computer" but no diagnostics programs can see it, because it was making funny sounds every so often and i wanted to check the status of it using a S.M.A.R.T program to check the hard drive but none off them seem to beable to find the hard drive, not even Maxtor's own program. I can see this in my computer ^^^^^ But my diagnostics programs just wont see my hard drive Thanks for your time
