ok so i got a free desktop (dimension 3100)and it only has a pci-e 1x slot and a couple pci....so i figured i'll just get a pci card off ebay for it, what would be my best bet? im looking at Radeon 9250's and fx 5500's....are there better cards for pci or which of these would perform the best? thanx.

The x1300 is about the best you can get for pci I believe.

looks like the pci version ranges around 100 bux which i cant really afford, why the hell are agp and pci-e so much cheaper, dosent make sense to me...guess im just gonna go with one of the ones i mentioned because ive seen them sell super cheap, guess that can hold me over till i get a decent computer...thanx for the input.

There is a MUCH larger market for AGP and PCI-E so they make more, which reduces costs.

I have purchased x2 ATI 9250's recently for towers i was selling on which to be honest are pretty bog standard but do the job. They will play games but not extremely well probably to around the standard of the ps1 and they will not handle the more demanding games. However there fine for more basic stuff like watching your movies and basic pc stuff. The fx 5500 is around the same standard with little to choose between the two.

well i'll just be playing like tiger woods and nfsc and quake4...which im perfectly happy with at med settings, they run fine on my friends gateway with onboard 6100 grfx so i think i'll just find the cheapest one of the 2 and be happy till i can afford a nice system, thanx for the tips.
