Ram Trouble

I Recently bought this motherboard for my first computer im gonna make (http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/DG33FB/index.htm) it says it only supports 1.8v and latancy of 5-5-5 or 6-6-6 (i want to get pc6400) (http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/dg33fb/sb/cs-026593.htm) but whenever im going to order the ram it doesnt give the voltage, can someone recommend a good dual channel 2gig total ram?

you might be able to use This, but it's 1.9v.

Why did you go with that board?

 

Dude, if you're looking to make a decent computer, sell that board and get something that can Overclock.

 

First, i got the board because it was cheap and can run a cpu at 1333 bus speed, second, i dont overclock. The ram has to be 1.8v or it will not boot. (wish it said that in the specs before i ordered it)

 

that ram might work at 1.8v

I have corsair 677MHz ram thats 1.8v, if you want I can give you a link to that.

Usually cheaper RAM runs at 1.8v. BTW may I ask why you don't want to overclock?

 

yea the first one looks like it has better heat spreaders, and i dont overclock because of heating issues, id like my computer to last as long as it can, plus i dont really have the money for all that extra cooling. (im building a new computer because my computer is lasting too long, p3 800mhz 128ram from like 7 years ago lol)

 

Core 2 Duo's don't really have that problem. An Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro(22 bucks) will keep an overclocked C2D at almost stock temps.

 

if we can persuade you to overclock, great, if not never mind, but a decent motherboard is recommended regardless.

 

wow 22bucks? i thought id need a whole project of cooling tubes or something, i know its a bit off topic but how would i go about OCing a c2duo? (3ghz)

 

Well you might want to act fast or its gonna go back to 30 bucks! The deal is at ewiz.com. If you need help with overclocking post in the Overclocking Thread(the mods like it better) but basically all you do is go into the BIOS and change the FSB(Front Side Bus). It might sound just a little complicated but it's not. It's EXTREMELY easy to do and we will be glad to help you out in case you do decide to do it.

 

thanks guys youve been a great help, as for the cooling, ill buy from newegg, its 19.99$ there. Also, ive done a bit of reading on overclocking and i got the hang of it already(or so it seems) Thanks again
