How to boot from CD Compaq D5S

    Hi guys looking for help Girlfriend has got a compaq D5S off ebay but it is password protected and cant start up.I have a windows xp cd but how do i run from cd.I have tried pressing F12 but just says media failure please check cable.

    so have you?
    if you've got a different cable, try that. also make sure the disc is relatively clean.

    Ok dumb question what cable we talking about i have tried another monitor and that but bit lost now.Sorry

    It could be any cable, although I am guessing it it the DVD drive cable. Open up the computer and just try to re-attach the dvd drive cable.
