Ok, I'm no expert but I do know my way around computers a bit. But I got this strange problem that, for the life of me, I just can't figure out...

My comp sucks, but it can do the things I like to do for now. I only watch movies, download games/shows/movies, play a single online game, and other than that, I just research.

So anyways... I was able to do all that until a few days ago when, my computer started restarting randomly. Well I thought it was random, turns out my keyboard got fried(Left shift key acted as shut down). But around the same time, my computer started acting up as well. (don't seem to be related as my keyboard got fried by a coffee spill)
So, the game I play which is retardedly low req, but my computer suddenly started loading it really slow, and my frame rate was crap. I restart, wait for boot lag to go away, and its still crap. I turn on free meter to show my ram/cpu usage. CPU 100% and ram 98% WTF? And Windows increased my virtual memory to 2GB???

Edit>>> Also, running map editor for my game was easy as its a basic prog, now it makes cpu go to 100% usage and ram to 98%. The prog then stops responding before I can load my map I'm working on, and then it crashes...<<<

So I run about 5-6 Virus scans (Avast Pro) both while the comp running and a few in boot scan. It found a few, got rid of them. But nothing was found after the first scan. I download a few ram/cpu testers and run them for a few hours on burn-in and it shows no errors...

I have no idea what has happened. The only things I've done lately was install a new media player and fix my registry, but I did the registry fix a few days before the problems(reason: virus on boot up. File was in registry, googled it and found the proper fix).

    Specs:
OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
    Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600
    OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation
    System Manufacturer IBM
    System Model 225772U
    System Type X86-based PC
    Processor x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 10 GenuineIntel ~935 Mhz
    BIOS Version/Date IBM 21KT32AUS, 17/03/2005
    SMBIOS Version 2.3
    Windows Directory C:\WINDOWS
    System Directory C:\WINDOWS\system32
    Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume1
    Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)"
    Total Physical Memory 256.00 MB
    Available Physical Memory 59.92 MB
    Total Virtual Memory 2.00 GB
    Available Virtual Memory 1.96 GB
    Page File Space 624.94 MB
    Page File C:\pagefile.sys

Just running System Info sent my ram usage to 77% from around 50% I don't get this. Is it a hardware problem or a software one? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Probably a software problem. Some sort of malware probably. I suggest you backup all your files(backups made before this started happening would be better) format your HDD and re-install windows. That should probably fix all your problems.

I got it running like before by using a bunch of dif A/V's and spyware scanners, registry scanners and even a system optimizer. I'm only having problems with that map editor now and I have no idea why... it just eats all my ram/cpu till it crashes... everything else is working fine, yet that simple little map editor is fritzy... strange.

Try to reinstall the map editor.
