I have a laptop. One day I noticed I had no sound when I turn my comp on and off. No it is not on mute. I have sound when there is low battery. I can play a movie. I can not watch you tube videos, or mtv. I have tried a few things no luck. I don't know what to do. Is it a sound card problem. How do I fix my no sound. Thanks if you can help.

try updating the drivers? Can you see it in the device manager?

ok, click start, then click on run, then enter devmgmt.msc into the box and press ok. The device manager will open, and look for "sound, video and game controllers". Expand that, and if there is a "!" icon next to your sound device, double click on it and it will tell you whats wrong.

Do you know what sound card you have (if any)

hmm, try double clicking on the realtek ac97 audio and see if it says the device is working properly. If it is, try updating the driver by chosing that option.
