    my configuration is
    AMD athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processror 4200+ 2.20Ghz
    1 GB RAM
    ASUS M2NPV-VM motherboard...
i tried installing the fedora core 5...each time the installation is successful.
but when it reboots it gives the error -->error loading operating system.
Is it because of hardware or or any other compatibilty issues?
    Plz help...!

first off fedora core 5 is very out dated and obsolete, try the fedora core 7 or wait for 8

second, your prolly running windows on the same hard drive right? thats the problem, i didnt have much luck with dual booting either. i recomend that you get another hard drive and install linux on it or if your confedent enuff, delete windows and install linux

    edit:
since your running on an amd64 you should consider sabayon linux its very nice from what i hear

I just got that same error. i'm not running a dual boot. I DO have the same setup as you though. Asus M2NPV-VM with the X2. Think there might be something up with this MoBo?

    What OS shugaloaf?

    On what drive?

Is it sata or ide etc.etc.etc.

Simple fault... the system can't find the boot files.

    Windows XP
    75GB IBM IDE drive

Yeah I just thought it was odd that the first thread I read on the error and it was my same mobo. Kinda makes you think. Weird thing is I powered it down for like 2o minutes and now it's fine. Did a backup of my important stuff anyway, just in case.

    Thanks!

I would look at the ide cable with a little suspicion in that case, at the same time checking the power cables etc.

I had a mobo a long time back that did this intermittently.. It turned out to be the ide controller failing, and it died completely in the end some 6 months later after a lot of head scratching and changing of drives/cables etc.
