I wanted to start a thread dedicated to media and whatever burns, scans, or reads it. Basically whatever media you want to talk about....do it here. I think that some of the threads (mainly docTY thread) have a little too much OFF topic "chatter" and we need another thread to talk about different media and DVDRW drives. NOT knocking the docTY, actually I love it and will visit it every time it's updated but I'd like to see it stay FOCUSED on TY media and any problems related to TY media. :D
So if you have good, bad, great, poor, mediocre, indifferent, or any experiences or questions about media post them here. We have plenty of people that would/will be available to answer/field ALMOST any questions someone might have pertaining to media. :)

Just purchased some Verbatim DVD+R 16X (MCC004) from Office Max. The internet advertises them at $22.99 +tax per 100 pack, but in store; NOTHING. :) Took in my 3 ink cartridges ($9 OFF purchase) and printed online advertisement (which they happily matched) then paid a few pennies over $15 for a 100 pack. YEAH!!!
edit: grammar and spellin, what else?? :D

Ahh so it's only an online sale again huh? So taking in a printed add from their website will get you the same price in store?

Hey RUINS.
Yeh I've never had a problem with them matching their online ad. Just take it in and show it to them during checkout and there you go. :)
I didn't check last night to see which MCC 004's I got. From what I understand CMC and Prodisc make Verbatim MCC 004 discs. ALSO the CMC ones are supposed to be BETTER quality. :D I think that JOERYAN and some others have explained this elsewhere. Sorry I can't remember the link. PAPA = CMC ; + = Prodisc (inner code on center of hub on clear portion of hub)

That is an odd code cincyrob. :) You might get a magnifying glass and see if you can read it a little better. :P Like I said I didn't check mine yet and will later today. :)
Thanks for stopping by buddy. Hope to see more of the crowd around. :D

edit: Looks like the first 2 cake boxes are CMC made and the third is more than likely Prodisc.

Curious-
Meritline had a sale on BeAll 8X DVD+R discs. $19.99 for 100 with
free shipping. Checking further I found info that said NASA and the
FAA use them. Has anybody heard of these or used them? Are they
any good?

Shardel,
Do you live near an Office Max? If so you can go get Verbatim MCC 004's for $22.99 +tax. I'm sure that the ad/sale ends tomorrow but you might try and pick some of those up for a GOOD price on GOOD media. :) AND if you have any old ink cartridges lying around you can get $3 credit for each cartridge. :D
I found some posts on another forum of the BeAll branded media (mid:BeAll000 PG0-000) and they seem less than stellar to me. I don't care if the D.O.D. uses them. LOL. ;)
link to BeAll scans ....check out post #59 & #60 then L@@K thru the rest of the thread for MCC 004 scans. :D
hth.......

ADD: 7084E1626+01053E18 is the clear hub code on my MCC 004's. Looks like they're MBI made or Prodisc as I read somewhere. :) Hope that's right and if NOT please someone correct me so I can change the info. I want to get the info 100% RIGHT if I can. :D
I'll do a burn and scan later for our perusal!!! LOL.
EDIT: I found the link I was looking for and the discs I indicate above are indeed Prodisc made. :D link to MCC 004 hub codes

Thanks for the info. I was just curious because I hadn't heard of
them before. Usually order TY on line even when I pay more. I rarely
get a coaster-like one in the last 200.

darren22,
You might let us know what drive it is and how old it is as well. :) How many burns would give an idea as to the "wear" it has too. :)
I'm guessing it's an I/O Magic (BTC made) but we won't know until you indicate the model # and such. :)
btw TDK isn't really known as "top notch" media but I've had pretty good success with them anyway.

It appears that your "CD-burner" is dirty. LOL. You can try cleaning the burner (laser) but be careful they are quite delicate. :)
If it were me I would look at getting another drive. I'm NOT a fan of BTC and optical drives are very cheap right now. :) You can get almost any "name brand" drive delivered for less than $40. :D

darren22,
The things highlighted in red are the reason I posted what I did. It shows that your DVDRW drive is either dirty or not working properly. In either case I would consider REPLACING the drive for something of better quality. I can recommend many drives but I would look at Lite-on's for one possible alternative replacement drive. They make many DVDRW drives and many of them are quite good. :)
If you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask. :D
....gm
edit:
I never thought to ask if you were having problems with other media too. Well are you?? LOL. Sometimes I'm a little slow. :D
