Hi all, i'm in much need of help, yesterday i left my laptop (fujitsu-Siemens Amilo M1450G) on whilst not using it for a while, and when I opened it up, I had the dreaded blue screen of death. I just glanced at it, and read the bit saying "if this is the first time you've seen this message just restart the computer" - so i did, but it hasn't booted since! I get my fujitsu logo thing come up then just a message saying "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert media in selected boot device and press a key. after doing some net research this is wht i've tried: - Setting BIOS to default - Setting HDD to no.1 in priority in BIOS Boot sequence - Booting to XP CD recovery console, but it doesn't detect the hard drive at all - removing the hard drive, and giving it a dust then replacing it - checked as much as i can for any loose cables etc. i'm currently downloading Knoppix to give that a whirl, but i'm not hopeful, as even the xp cd couldn't detect the HDD. The hard drive also makes a clicking noise when the laptop is turned on...! Is it hopeless? i have a few bits and pieces that i haven't backed up - foolish i know! I think i may eventually have to try the old freezer trick if i can't get it to revive itself - it worked for me bofore! any help would be much appreciated! Thanks
What's happened is the hard drive has failed whilst the laptop is on, so the BSOD has occurred because windows can't access any files. You can try a drive repair procedure, but if you haven't backed stuff up, chances are you won't see it again.

Take it either to the manufacturer or a data recovery specialist. One usually sees you lose your data, the other sees you lose several hundred dollars. Toss up I'm afraid.
