SATA hard drive not recognizable

    hi i have a samsung 200GB SATA hard drive in an external encloser and my computer cant recognize the hard drive what do i do

    You may want to try re installing your sata drivers or update them this may help.

    ok ive already installed it like a bunch of times and also how do you update something you cant see

    If you do not have any manuals for your computer open the case and look on the motherboard you should be able to see make and model on there.You can then update your drivers from the makers web site.

    Does it appear in disk management or the device manager? If not, it's either not connected properly or faulty, if it is, it might not be formatted. Is it new? If it is, you'll need to format it before it'll appear in My computer.

    thats my problem i cant format it cause the computer says its a usb device and thats all

    try another computer or contact your system manufacturer, I am pretty sure they would help if it's a Dell system. You can also try to put it inside the computer to see if its recognized then.
