I have a spare D-link DI-524 router and I would like to know if I could use this as a wireless card with my Windows 98 System. The PC only has Ethernet built in, no USB.

Depends what you're using it for, can you give any more detail?

I want to use it as like a PCI wireless card. I want it to be able to recieve signals so I can access the internet on the PC using the wireless router only. Basically using the DI-524 as a DWL-G510.

Well depending on the router, you should be able to just plug your PC into one of the network ports on it. If that doesn't work, you may need to connect the router to the pc with the internet via a cable.

It's a feature of networking that in order to be able to receive, you have to be able to send.

How will just plugging it in work? How will I be able to select my SSID and type in my password? The configuration page doesn't have anything. Are you assuming that it will work or have you done it?

I'll try it out but just to clarify, I am using the router as a wireless card, in other words to receive signals from an other wireless router. There is no modem connected to it, just a computer.

Ah I see, so you're not sharing the internet wirelessly, you only want to be able to network to it wirelessly. How does the other computer transmit data?

I don't want to wireless network, just wireless internet. So my setup is Desktop wired to router, wireless card on another desktop, wireless laptop, and I want to add this wireless desktop.

    make your mind up!
There'll need to be a modem attached to the other PC if you want the internet!

    Ok, this is my setup!

I have a Dell XPS wired to the internet with a WBR-2310 Wireless router.

I have a Custom Built connecting to the WBR-2310 wireless router with a DWL-G510

I have a E1505 with an internal wireless card connecting to the WBR-2310 Wireless router

Now I want to use the DI-524 to connect a computer to the WBR-2310.

You may well be able to do that, If you share the internet connection on the PC with the WBR-2310 to the Local Area Connection that's attached with, I think anybody who connects to the WBR-2310 will be able to gain access to the internet. If you can connect wirelessly to the WBR-2310 with the DI-524 (I don't see why you couldn't), you should be able to connect that way. What you'll have to do is start the wireless networking wizard somehow.
