Hi all, A friends laptop wont boot after clicking restart in Win XP, it shuts down then hangs with a black screen and just the underscore type cursor flashing in the top left hand corner. I have to keep the power button pressed for 5 secs to shutdown again and then reboot. Its a Medion MAM2010 Any ideas?
yeah try this first check your power options and make sure the power button is set to turn off computer and not just to hibernate, etc. AND/OR try this place a shortcut on the desktop. In the command line put this without the quotes..."shutdown.exe -r -t00 -f" and call it reboot. switches are -r=shutdown and reboot -txx is amount of time to wait for reboot -f force running apps to clsoe without warning. when you click on the shortcut it will will shutdwon the laptop and reboot into windows.
