Include the mode (PIO, UDMA 2), which can be found here: Start>Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager>IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers>Primary/Secondary IDE Channel>Advanced Settings.
Also please test a complete disc in Rawdump 2.0 and post its final rip speed.

The older models actually rip faster Here is the exact same 1.35 GB NGC disc ripped in the same system, with different DVD-ROM models:
8162B Ultra DMA 2 2599MB/hour 32:08
8161B Ultra DMA 2 2554MB/hour 32:42
8163B Ultra DMA 2 1902MB/hour 43:55
8164B Ultra DMA 3 1780MB/hour 46:57
Based off this testing, the 8162 and 8161 should be able to rip a 4.5 GB DVD nearly 45 minutes faster than the 8164.
