Yesterday around 10am we stuck on BBC4 which shows cbebbies channel, the channel was fine until around 15 minutes, it then froze however sound was coming through, I tried to change the channel but it was stuck on the channel. I switched off the box to try again however the box is just stuck on BBC4 no with no sound and no picture, I have tried entering the menu but nothing is responding, there is now no sound, no picture and no response at all from the box.

All I can see on the box is it says starview SP6110217 which is on a bar code.

It says starview on it on the top left, on the top right it says digital receiver, on the black face where the buttons are it says DVB and under that Digital Video Broadcasting. I have looked at the box and the manual which give nothing away to which version it is.

18x7 is a clone and 25x7 vents is a genuine

I need to know this because you need to update the correct firmware on it

    USB Adapter info here

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Modu...erial Adaptor

You will need a null modem cable DB9F to DB9F.

    Null modem info

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=L71BT&DOY=2m6

These two cable links are only for reference as they can be purchased alot cheaper on fleabay.

All firmware/loader can be found in the link at the end of my post marked Eamos Library.

You will need the GTromloader, (Starview Software Uploader), found in the Starview software folder of the link.

You will need version 2.57_FIXED ( CLONE ) found in firmware folder.

And please download the Starview PDF guide, this will give you step by step instructions on how to do everything. This can be found in the Starview Documentation folder in the link.

You might need to do it several times to get it right

Make sure you leave it connected to the PC till you see the pop up box "Download Complete"

I have tried this repeatedly all day more than 50 times and this is all I get:

If I click retry it gives the flash update failed instantly, I'm at a loss as to what to do.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble loading the firmware

Just by off chance - When you connect the SV to the PC , are you putting it on Stand-By ?

Ok , Im going to ask you a few questions to see can we solve the problem

    1. Have you got the SV on stand-by when flashing ?
    2. Are you sure you have the NULL MODEM CABLE as the rs232 wont work?
    3. Has this cable been used before to flash a b0x ?
    4. Are you using a laptop or PC ?

    1. The SV is off at the back, I turn it on and wait until the 0 appears, then hit download.
    2. Yes
    3. Yes, it just did mine, but its still stuck on 0, however the screen on the TV when I plugged it in has now changed, to the background of the main menu, but no choices are displayed.
    4. I'm using a PC.

If I try with the ariel in as the instructions tell you the download fails, if I just plug it into the PC it downloads the file.
