   Is there a really simple program for burning divx and xvid films to dvd??? even a non freeware prog????? if not a really simple guide --appreciate any responce!

   Well if you are talking about burning Nero, Alchol120, CDRWIN5 will all do the trick. Also BurnAtOnce can do the job i think (and its free too).
