my avi has ac3 audio want to encode 2 mpeg2

    i am a bit stumped with this one i have an avi file which has ac3 audio i usually extract a wav file from the avi using virtuadub then turn into ac3 using besweet but when i try to extract the audio from the avi virtuadub says no audio decompresser could be found.
    any guides on how to fix this or advice
