Nero Vision 4 wont burn AVI to DVD - Encodes but then ejects disc

Ive been having this problem for a while now, although it used to work fine...

When trying to create a DVD from an AVI file, Nero Vision goes through the encoding process but then fails to burn the DVD. It just ejects the disc and goes back to the startsmart page.. no error message or anything!

I have tried uninstalling Nero, running Roxio Zapper, CCleaner, Defraging my hard drive, installing firmare updates on my dvd drive and the usual anti virus\spyware..

I thought i had found the problem that it had traces of Nero 6 in the registry but im sure ive managed to remove it all.

Here is the history log from the core folder

Somebody please help.. its driving me mad!!

    Hi
the latest firmware is 1.09 (and not 1.07 as initially suggested) from here

here's a guide to enabling your DMA

Best to uninstall your nero by running Nero 7 CleanTool from here.

Run. Ccleaner to clean the registry.
    Reboot.
    Install nero 7.10.1.0 from here

    something else i spotted,

TTH02 is TDK's code for its 16X DVD-R media and they suck. Also, there are reports of non TDK "fake TTH02" on other websites (CD Freaks in particular).

    Try using Verbatim

    Thanks for the reply

Im not sure why it said im on firmware 1.06, because ive recently installed 1.09. The firmware updater confirmed this when i just tried it

I'll try removing Nero with that tool and see if it helps, i have tried to get the DMA on before by following that guide. I'll give it another try though

Its really confusing because i can burn data DVDs without any problems

Ive also tried a program called ConvertXtoDvd and it failed to burn

Interesting about the fake discs.. these came in TDK packaging so i assume they are real. But i know how well these fakes can be disguised, is there any way to tell?

I'll try some other discs as well

Sorry ROB07 but ive got no experience with burning multiple files in Nero Vision.
All i could recommend is the usual remove nero with the clean tool, reboot, clean registry and reinstall

    Ok so a follow up...

Ive been through everything and tried again.. yet it failed once more

Its still saying DMA is off, even though i went through the guide to turning DMA on.

In Device manager it is saying

Transfer Mode - DMA if Available

Current Transfer Mode - Ultra DMA Mode 5

So i cant work out why DMA is still off for my drive

    Hi

If you find that you cannot get your drives out of PIO Mode, try uninstalling the IDE Channel in device manager. In Device manager click on the IDE Channel to highlight it then right-click and choose uninstall.
Once it is removed reboot your computer, Windows will then reinstall the IDE Channel and once its done you will need to reboot again. Then go back into the IDE Channel Properties and check to see if it is now in Ultra DMA Mode.

    Pls post your log again.
