I want to convert .avi files(I got them from my digital-video-camera) into the smaller divx format because i want to burn them on a CD. currently the files have a size between 1-4 gb.
Short Answer: Encode them using DivX. Long Answer: 1. Fire up virtualdub 2. Open the movie *duh* 3. Video --> Fast Recompress 4. Video --> Compression --> Select Codec, Specify bitrate 5. Audio --> Full Processing Mode 6. Audio --> Compression --> MP3, whatever bitrate 7. File --> Save As AVI, Give it a name *duh* 8. Sit and wait.
