If im correct, you need a copmuter to become a dedicated server to be able to play a counter strike game. Me and my friend want to play an internet game, but we cant connect because when one of us clicks on host game and hosts it, the other cant see it in the list, we even try to make direct connections, but it doesnt work. I read that you need another pc to be a server to be able to play. I just want to host a game on my computer and him connect to me over the internet and me play on the same hosting computer.
Yes, you can host games in the Steam client and have other players join. I use to play Counter Strike Source with my friend online. He would set up a room and then invite me.
