a friend of mine was playing one day then shutdown itself , in the end found out was his gpx card was heading up 110°C was pretty hot in the case with him being mean about installing extra cooling. anyway i told him to get some fans to stick in the case and also his birthday is coming up soon so i thought i would get him a decent cooler for his card, ive found 2 which will fit a x1950 pro pcie zalman vf900 cooler kit Artic Cooling Accelero X2 they both look alright , just wanted an oppinion which is gonna be the best overall. cheers guys
Zalman is better. I was also looking at those for my card, and found some benchmarks of the two and how they each cooled the same card on the same conditions... The Zalman won by around 10C. Btw, how the hell is he getting temps that high?!? Cards usually shut down around 85C-90C. Is his card's cooler on right? Also, you may want to get some arctic silver 5 thermal paste for the card too.
The less dBs (decibels) the better, and thats the case with the zalman. It is a better overall cooler and is more quiet. Go with the Zalman.
Depends on what you mean by quiet. Both will be quieter than the stock cooler, but neither will be that quiet. The quietest option is a Thermalright HR-03 with a silent 92mm fan, but it's likely to be the most costly.
