Hey I have a mobo that only has sata ports and only have 2 pata hdds that I need to put in it! I went out and got 2 connectors to do that and I can only get one to read. As soon as I try to hook up the other one the screen says that no hdd is found. Anyone have a clue?

try going to "computer management" and initializing them. this worked for me when "my computer" didn't show my new HDD however that was a sata to sata connection so best of luck.

was the master drive on the end of the ide cable or on the 2nd connector?

Both of them were connected with the connectors. The board has 7 sata ports and 1 pata which I have the 2 optical drives connected to. As long as I don't connect the other one every thing works and as soon as I try to connect the the other one nothing.

I got it to boot with the other drive hooked up but it doesn't show that it is hooked up.
