What does it say before 'press F1 to continue?'

Right. Is this a new PC build, or has it worked fine before?

Right. So the system doesn't respond to any key presses when it says press F1 to continue? Normally it should.

Unplug the PC from the mains and take the CMOS battery out. Leave the system for an hour like this, then put the battery back, then plug in the PC and turn it on.

Is there a 'CMOS Reset' Jumper for your motherboard? If so, have you tried it?

Hmm, your BIOS chip may simply have stopped working then. You can either buy another and solder it on yourself or have the motherboard replaced.
