in my continuing quest to find the perfect avi > dvd software, i stumbled upon Avi2DVD. now as CCE SP2 fast becomes my favorite encoder i naturally decided to set it as the default encoder for Avi2DVD (had to manually point AVi2DVD to the proper executable for CCE). however once i initiate the conversion process everything seems to go fine (demuxing, etc) until it is time to encode. AVI2DVD successfully opens CCE but nothing happens. the two programs just sit there waiting for each other to do something. could i be using the wrong version of CCE? i thought Avi2DVD supported most if not all versions of CCE? anyway if i am in fact using the wrong version, is it possible to have a 'dual installation' of two different CCE's and just point Avi2DVD to the compatible one? any advice is appreciated.. also if you have a suggestion for a better program to use in conjunction with CCE i would love to hear (tried The Film Machine but got sub par audio :/ ).

4) Press Step3 and pick your favorite encoder (Quenc / FreeEnc / NuEnc / HCEnc / CCE 2.6.7 if you own it !!!).

I've found HCenc to be as good an encoder as any, especially if your sources are Xvids.

As you may have seen in MysticE's post, AVI2DVD does not support any version over 2.6.7. Sounds like you ar eusing SP2 2.7. If you want to use CCE 2.7, do a search on TheFilmMachine. It's like AVI2DVD, but is much better in my opinion.

you know, ive been using The Film Machine for the past several days experimenting with different settings and while the video is always top-notch (using CCE) i am having a horrible time with the audio. its either too loud, too soft, too flat/muffled. so im trying out different ptograms. i really do like TFM but the audio has thus far been pretty inferior to that of ConvertXToDVD among other programs ive used. have you any suggestions for acheiving good quality audio with TFM? i have all the latest K-lite codecs so that shouldn't be the problem.

Just try AVI2DVD with HCenc set to best, and see how it looks and how the audio sounds to you.

i have heard good things about HCenc. perhaps i'll give that a try.. i seem to just keep buying into the CCE hype after seeing what its capable of! would you say HC is comparable quality to CCE?
