    Can anyone answer me this question.

    Lets say I have an HTPC that has a tv tuner, and an HDMI port built into the motherboard. Along with that is a graphics card that will decode HD.

    Ok, here is the question. Do I still need my cable box to watch HDTV, or cable in general? The one I have now is a DVR box with HD.

    Do you still receive the proper signal without the box?

    I haven't seen anything on this topic.

    Thanks.

    I'm basically trying to record digital and HD broadcasts from the cable company(Insight) onto the HTPC.

    I haven't really found anything on the actual hookup.

    Here is some kind of flow chart to describe what I'm talking about.

    I'd like to do:

    Coax Cable(wall)--> HTPC--> HDTV

    I'd still want to record digital and HD tv broadcasts.

    But if that connection is not possible then what would I do if it's setup like this:

    Coax Cable(Wall) -->Cable company HD dual tuner DVR Box --> HTPC --> HDTV.

    How in the world do I capture TV broadcasts on my HTPC from the DVR box I am leasing from the cable company? As far as I know, there is no USB or firewire support on it.

    Does that help?
