    Hi
    I have a Pentium 4 1.6GHz and it came with a 32MB graphics card.
The card is a ATI Rage 128 Pro 4x TMDS and it is plugged into a AGP slot.
I have now got a simulation software which I need to use for a course I am studying, the software runs but very slowly and it says in the software that recommended video memory is 64MB, so obviously I need to upgrade my card. The problem is that most AGP cards now are 8x and my AGP slot has a max of 4x so I was wondering if I bought a card which is AGP 8x, will it work in my 4x slot or not?
The card I want to buy is ATI RADEON 9250 128MB.

    Thank You

Yes i think ddp is right that should be both speed.
Allot of agp cards are, they may be advertised as 8x but allot of times they can do both, the only difference is that its going to run a little slower then a 8x agp card would, but not to much slower.
Don't take my word on it though, go to newegg.com and find a card you like, that same card if you still want it, Once your at the page for the card click on the specifications tab at the top, it will tell you everything about the card, if its 4x, 8x, or both.
