I have a friend's Dell laptop that I'm trying to to reinstall windows xp on because he let someone put some trial version o fi ton there but when I put the disc in the dvd/cd drive it won't boot up from the disc. Any suggestions on what I need to do?
When you start your computer, their should be an option to hit F1 or F2 to enter setup (depends on Bios). Enter the setup and check your boot sequence. It's most likely first booting from hard drive. Set the primary boot to the dvd/cd drive. Save settings and exit. Turn off computer (not restart), then turn back on. It should then boot from CD Drive and run you through reinstalling XP.
