Hi all, I'm looking at building my next system and I have the parts I was planning on using listed out below. Any suggestions on the parts I have chosen or the prices and what I could be doing differently would be appreciated. Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-M61VME-S2 - $65 CPU: AMD 5600+ AM2 - $150 Video Card: Nvidia 8600GTS - $180 Memory: OCZ SLI-Ready Dual Channel 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz - $50 Drives and case will be taken from previous rig. An AMD and a 8600? Thats it? Why not a cheap C2D that you can easily over clock to be faster than the expensive ones? Also, get a 8800GT. If you're planning on playing Crysis, you could with that rig, but because of the 8600 you will only be able to get medium/low settings. With a 8800GT for around $260 you can play at all high! Its right below the GTX and Ultra in rank.
I've always been a fan of AMD... What c2d processor would compare to the 5600+? Is the 8800gt the same as the 8800gts or are they entirely different?
I could compare any C2D processor. You could get the E4400 for $130 on newegg, and easily over clock over 3.0Ghz. As for the 8800GT, yes it is way better than the GTS, and doesnt cost to much either. Wasn't really planning on spending 250+ on a video card.. Do you have any suggestions for anything a little lighter?
Haha I decided on the 8800GT. I've got some spare money laying around so might as well blow it. Any other suggestions?
