man I am reading so much info as to having ASPI problems.....update the layer to ASPI etc...... Can someone give me definative answer as to why people recommend ASPI over ATAPI? I only ask as I only use the ATAPI.....and have NO issues with this at all.....people have said to me that REALLY I should be using the ASPI layering....why? Cheers guys.....
ATAPI - ATA Packet Interface ASPI - Advanced SCSI Programming Interface ATAPI is pretty much a specification that CDROM drives need to meet in order to properly interface with thei IDE channels. ASPI is a programming interface (i.e., not hardrware like ATAPI) that allows the OS and programs to do funcky shit. - CDRIdentifier - CLonyXXL - DVD shit - Extraction, burning, other misc stuffos. For more information regarding ASPI see http://cd-rw.org/articles/archive/aspisetup.cfm
Thanks for that Praetor..... I do cd burning, dvd burning, extraction, DV capture, render and burn etc.... I use XP home and have Pioneer 106 and LG dvdrom.... I use Pinnacle/dvd2one/dvd decrypter/recordnow DX etc etc....and have looked at ASPICHK proggy and have NO ASPI installed...... Obviously my programs are quite happy running with ATAPI...... I believe in the motto 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'.........How would I benefit in using the ASPI layers over the present ATAPI? I could however run into problems with future software do you think? Also why do you think NT/2000/XP come with no ASPI layers installed....is it maybe because they are more compatible with programs using their own layers or maybe something else....? Cheers....
ASPI and ATAPI are two different things. You CANNOT compare them. Because MS is STUPID as a F*CK. There might be some more info here: ASPI and ATAPI are two different things. You CANNOT compare them. Because MS is STUPID as a F*CK.
