HELP

I turned on my starviewbox after a power cut and now I can’t even access the setup\installation screen a single small line appears on the LCD display, the TV display is the last channel viewed information with no picture. I have no installation disk, is my box for the recycling yard? Can it be rescued Please HELP.

 

What does it say on the front display of the Starview?

Sounds like a capacitor has gone on the powerboard.

Didnt say it couldnt be fixed though. People have had some success replacing the capacitors with this method.

1.Remove the cap (c21) electrolytic near the ribbon on the psu board.
2.Boot the box , it should boot to on and function correctly , the psu will hum ignore it , just let it boot to ON ,then turn it back off.
3.Replace electrolytic cap (c11) 1000 mic @10v on the psu board , resolder (c21)
thats it done.
