Having some issues with some of the latest games that have come out. I don't normally get PC games, but since my Xbox 360 died like everyone elses, and Call of Duty 4 just came out, I needed to get it.

I installed it, ran it for about 10 minutes, and the screen froze. But it came back a few seconds later, so I thought no big deal. Well, about 5 minutes after that, it does it again, and Windows pops up telling me the iw3sp.exe file had an error, and back to Windows I go. It keeps doing that.

I'm running a fresh install of Windows XP SP2 on an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz 6600 with 2GB of RAM and using a ATI Radeon x700 256MB PCI-E card. I let the game do the in-game settings for me, and I've been able to play only for those short times.

I know it's not a good card, but when I play, albeit not for more than 10 minutes, the framerate is perfectly fine and nothing glitches.

I have the Realtek onboard HD Audio, I was reading somewhere that there may be something to do with that. Otherwise, point me in the direction of a good card, I'm a complete artard when it comes to graphics cards.

Well, I would think you have PCI-e 16x right? Well for that, a decent x1950xt by ATi will do, so will a 7600 from nvidia. If you want a kick ass rig, then I think a 8800GT would go well with your setup.
