My xbox 360 is flashed with the Xtream 5.3 firmware. The xbox has a TS-H943 DVD drive.

I burned two backups using xbox creator 2.6 and imgburn 2.3.

When I try these in my xbox, I am able to get to the starting menus but when the actual game play is in the process of loading, I get the "unreadable disc" error that tells me to clean the disc.

What could be wrong? The backups are region-free.

agree with the above, more than likely it is a problem with the media you use or how ou burn them. Only other time thatusually happens is when the discs start to get a little scratched up.

Or if by chance the file you got is just not quite right.

Here's some additional information:

The DVD drive is an MS25 drive
I'm burning Verbatim DVD+R DL at 2.4X
The xbox firmware is Xtreme 5.3C
My Sony DVD +/- RW DRU-810A burner is running with the latest firmware version.

I'm burning from backups that someone else created. The Verbatim spool label says 2.4X and I'm burning at that speed. Should I try burning at 1X?

Also, the firmware is capable of reading game discs at the default 12X speed for originals and a much slower speed for backups burned witn low quality media. To change speed, a restart of the console is required. I have the same problem at both speeds. The only difference is that it sometimes goes a little further before it locks up. Should back-ups by read at the same speed as originals? The version Xtreme 5.3A firmware has a constant speed of 12X for both originals and backups.

Xbox Backup Creator also allow the user to select speed options specific to the DVD drive in my Xbox. Should I select any of these or go with the default (12X)?

1. It would help if your burner could booktype to DVD-Rom, which i do not think the DRU-810A can (at least my DRU-710A couldn't)
2. I never change any speed setting in XBC
3. If 2.4X is the max speed (they all say 2.4X on them but it should also list the max speed) then i would set it to 1X. If the disc is a 6X or 8X max (my Verbatim are 6X max) then you can set the burning speed to 4X.

I have the same drive and i pretty much can get a working copy every time. You may want to get a different copy of the file your trying burn. Or even buy a Samsung DVD-Rom drive on Ebay flashed with Kreon firmware and start making your own images from original discs. If you keep wasting the DVD+R DL discs then it will end up costing you quite a bit in the end.

I checked all the backups that I burned. They were all of the DVD-ROM book type.

The 810A is capable of bitsetting and permits the book type being set to DVD-ROM.

What firmware is on your DVD drive? What media do you burn your backups on?

sounds like you are burning them too fast if they are verbs they should load with no probs. booktyping to dvd-rom should not matter unless u have a hitachi drive

I would recommend getting a program called xdvdmulleter. This program has a number of useful features and can check your backups for problems(and correct them). I think you can find a version of it on this site and if not, im sure you can google it.

The slowest Xbox Backup Creator will allow me to burn is 2.4X. This is the speed that I've been burning at.

In XBCr, you can select drive specific options. I selected my TS-H943A drive. There is a "Set Speed" option, this allows the user to set the speed at which the backup will be read in the console. The default is 12X. I tried 8X with the Verbatims and still it is unreadable. Is it worth trying slower? My firmware supports reading backups at slower speed but the readme file doesn't say how slow this is.

So far, the best results have been with the Memorex 2.4X DVD +R DLs. These backups make it a little further beyond the menus before the "unrecognizable" error shows.

Got the exact same burner DRU-810a. It does booktype but I found burning wth Verbs at 4x have no problems. 2.4x gave me all sort of fits too.

Burn at 4x with IMGBurn or CloneCD and you won't have these problems anymore.

My friends 360 was flashed with 5.2 a firmware.
When using discs other than verbs he would get the same problem(loading and then dirty disc error after the menu)
I reflashed his drive with ixtreme 1.2 c
and his 360 never has these errors pop up anymore.
I think reading at a slower speed would really help you to get past these dirty disc errors.
His drive would read verbs no problem but didnt like riteks....

Will a console flashed with iXtreme firmware only play backups created from consoles with iXtreme? The newest iXtreme 1.3 has 3 versions 2X, 5X, 8X, and 12x versions. Which speed should I install?

I installed the latest Ixtreme 1.3 (12x read speed) firmware. I still get the same problem. Can I rule out any hardware issues and assume that the problem is with the media? I can still read originals.

yep....stop being cheap and go get some verbatems. issue solved.
and if anything use IXTREME, the latest version. this will bee the best to make sure your games are fully stealthed, if the game is not fully stealthed it will not play in the 360.

so

get media.
fully stealth backup (xdvdmulleter will auto fix if not fully stealthed)
burn

In addition to the cheap Memorex, I also bought Verbatims and tried them. The Verbatims also failed.

Before burning these Verbatims, I checked the backup files with DVDmulleter and they were shown to be stealthy. My console has the latest Ixtreme version 1.3 (12X max version). Are there any other possibilities? Could there be a problem with the laser?

I finally got it to play backups by installing iXtreme 1.3 (5X read version). It works but only after putting in an original disk first, ejecting it, and then putting in a backup. It doesn't always work but at least it's some progress.

Any ideas? Should I load the 2X version of the firmware? The backups are on Verbatim.

there is other problems & in a perfect world Verbatims are Great. But I have all Verbatim backups! All worked on my OLD samsung xbox360. Now I just bought a Benq / Falcon xbox360 holiday bundle, took a long time to find this system :) . Not all are working now! there are no scratchs also, So it's firmware and or the drive laser that can cause this also. when your system dies on you like mine did and you get a different system you might have to reburn some games. I have also tried to use my BenQ key in the samsung and it flashes A red light in bottom right corner, i'm going to still try a few more firmwares on the samsung dvd because they are not as picky as the Benq drives are it seems to me.

If anyone has any info to help me it would be nice. If some one else has had these problems and fixed them.

I found out that the laser of my Samsung drive was replaced by the previous owner of the console. I ended up buying a new Samsung drive and now I can play backups. I'm using iXtreme 1.3 - 12 version.

How can you determine if the console is of the Falcon version?
